OUR PROJECTS

HIGHWAY CLEANUP

Twice a year the members are seen cleaning up along the river highway. Some members work on this during the day while others do their part in the early evening. We see who can find the most unique item. A registered duck was found and after we reported it to Ducks Unlimited a brief history and a certificate was sent to us along with thanks for the report on our find.

SCHOOL PICNIC

The Barkers Point School ends each year with a huge family picnic and the Lions are always visible in their bright yellow vests passing out cold treats for all.

Leo Hayes High School SPEAKOUT

Each winter along with the Nashwaaksis club we host a Lions Speakout Contest in the Leo Hayes High School. Several students take part and the top two students are the winners ... one represents the Barkers Point Club and the other Nashwaaksis in the District event.

Leo Hayes High School BURSARIES

Each year Barkers Point Lions Club presents two graduating students with a Bursary of $500. to help further their education. These bursaries are awarded on the community service preformed by the student  during their high school years.

SANTA HELPER

Santa spends time with the Barkers Point Lions Club each December. He visits with many youth groups, church groups, seniors and Santa fans in the area. Sometimes he has so many requests that a Lion needs to fill the second suit that he can be in two places at once. Members of the club help out by packing hundreds of treat bags for him to pass out.
Santa has the members so excited each year that they enter a float in the city parade, which is held in his honour.

OTHER PROJECTS

Fredericton Trails Coalition  not only does the club support this group but members also work with them.
