Premier Shawn Graham declared April 21, 2008 Lions Appreciation Day in New Brunswick, in honour and recognition of the work of the Lions Clubs of New Brunswick and around the world. A number of members from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and parts of Maine visited the Legislative Assembly today.

Premier Shawn Graham will be declaring Monday 21 April, 2008, as "Lions Appreciation Day in New Brunswick."
The declaration will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday 18 April, 2008, at the New Brunswick Legislature.
As many lions as possible are requested to attend, wearing their vests. Due to security measures, and the fact that there will only be seating for 50-60 lions in the gallery, please foward your name to IPDG Tim indicating your intent to attend. Moncton Mayor Lorne Mitton, centre, receives a pair of tickets from Shilo Bellis of XL96 for the second annual Blindfold Dinner to be held next Thursday at the Moncton High School Auditorium. The dinner and concert are presented by the Moncton and Riverview Lions Clubs, represented here by Joe Ruet of the Riverview club, and will feature a dinner and concert with special guests Melanie Morgan, Ivan Daigle and the recording stars The Wilkinsons. Money raised goes to support the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides program. Tickets for the dinner at 6 p.m. and concert at 7:30 p.m. are $53.75 and for the concert only are $33.75 and can be purchased at the Moncton Coliseum Box Office or online at tickets.moncton.ca

FREDERICTON BOYS & GIRLS STUDENT ADVANCE IN LIONS INTERNATIONAL PEACE POSTER CONTEST
Fredericton, November 14, 2007 - Rebakah Godin a member of the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a competition sponsored by the Fredericton Lions Club.
Godin's poster was among the more than 375,000 entries submitted world wide in the 20th annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions Clubs International is sponsoring the contest to emphasise the importance of world peace to young people everywhere.
"Everyone has the right to have peace," the 11 year old from Fredericton said. The poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme "Peace Around the World."
Fredericton Lions Club President Karl Bowland said he was impressed by the expression and creativity of the participants at the Fredericton Boys and Girls Club. "It is obvious that these young people have strong ideas what peace means to them. I'm so proud that we were able to provide them with the opportunity to share their visions."
Godin's poster will advance to face stiff competition through the district, multiple district and international rounds of competition if she is to be declared the international grand prize winner," Bowland said.
One grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners will be selected. The grand prize includes a cash award of US$2,500.00 plus a trip for the winner and two family winners to New York City, New York, USA for the awards ceremony at the Lions Day with the United Nations. The 23 merit award winners will receive a certificate and a cash award of US $500.00.
"Our club is cheering for Rebakah as her poster advances in the competition, and we hope that her vision will ultimately be shared with others around the world." Bowland said.
